建筑藝術學院位于象山校區，建筑專業始設于1928年，學脈深厚，1952年，全國高校院系調整時并入他校，1984年成立環境藝術教研室，1989年成立環境藝術系，2003年重立建筑藝術系時，在國內率先提出培養“哲匠”式的本土建筑設計人才，于2007年成立建筑藝術學院。該院以在藝術院校重建建筑學科、完善中國建筑教育體制為出發點，以具有國際化的視野重塑中國本土建筑文化的地域特質為立足點，以重建當代中國本土建筑學為總體研究方向，致力于與當代世界建筑教育學術平等溝通，推動本土原創性的建筑、城市、環境與人居的原創性設計，努力構建與自然和諧共存的社會。該院下設建筑藝術系、城市設計系、環境藝術系和景觀設計系，強調以動手實驗為突出的教學特色，設有建筑營造研究中心、風景建筑設計研究院、建筑與環境藝術實驗室等研究實踐機構和可持續建造、城市空間地理數字模擬、人居環境和景觀生態等系列教學實驗室。

建筑藝術系是以研究本土原創性實驗建筑為專業方向的教學與研究單位，致力于探索將當代藝術、人文思考、建筑學、特別是建筑的營造問題鑄為一體，復興本土那種融通自然、城市、建筑和器具的整體營造方式。同時，該系特別注重在最開放的國際交流狀態下培養本土文化意識的自覺，注重培養思想性與實踐性并重、個性與共性互存、人與建筑營造和諧的創造性人才。下設可持續建造實驗室。學制五年。

城市設計系
城市設計系是中國首個開設的以城市設計為專業主導方向的新興系科。該系致力于對城市建筑活動和相應的城市學科傳統建制進行系統的反思和再造，建構城市研究、教育新體系。該系以培養具備高度社會責任感，擁有工程技術和人文藝術雙重素質，在個人修養及公共審美品位上得到良好訓練，在理性、感性和藝術之間能夠建立有機平衡的高素質的跨越性城市規劃類專業人才為目標。下設城市空間地理數字模擬實驗室。學制五年。

環境藝術系
環境藝術系源于1984年率先在全國成立的環境藝術專業，1989年建系。該系是以研究建筑與環境相關的設計為專業方向的教學與研究單位，下設風景建筑設計研究院、人居環境實驗室。該系教學上延承中國傳統人文精神，研究人與居所的場所關系，重視建筑、景觀和室內相關學科間的整合互動，培養具有全局觀和創造性思維的風景建筑、室內等方向的高級設計與研究人才。

景觀設計系
景觀設計系由原環藝系2005年設立的景觀專業方向發展而來，旨在培養兼具工程技術和人文藝術雙重素質的新型景觀規劃與設計師。教學觀念契合了有機哲學觀及自然倫理，鼓勵學生從傳統哲學、營造學、造園學及當代藝術與設計理論中獲取營養，教學實踐立足于江南園林及鄉土聚落，注重人與自然關系的整體把握。下設景觀生態實驗室。現有師資專業結構豐富，專業建設具有國際學術視野。
